How to Manually Edit Employee Time Off
This article explains how to manually edit an existing time off record for an employee in Cerely. Editing time off allows you to update dates, times, leave types, or approval status as required.
1. From the home screen in Cerely, click on the Personnel tab from the Cerely top main menu

2. Locate and select the employee whose time off you want to edit

3. From the left-hand side menu within the employee profile, select Time Off

4. Locate the relevant time off record and select the Edit icon

5. In the pop-up window, update any of the following fields as required:

Date of Leave – Edit the date the leave begins

Unavailable From – Adjust the start time or select All Day

Date of Return – Edit the return date

Available From – Adjust the return time or select All Day

Leave Type – Select a different leave type if required

Number of Hours – Update the number of leave hours taken

Paid When – Adjust when the leave is paid using the dropdown menu

Notes – Update or add administrative or employee notes

Attachments – Upload or replace any supporting documents

Status – Update the status to Approved, Pending, or Declined

Important:
-
If the edited time off overlaps an existing rostered shift, the employee may be automatically unassigned from that shift once the change is approved.

If a shift ends at a specific time (e.g. 6:00am) and the time off is set as unavailable for the full day, the system will treat this as overlapping and remove the employee from the shift.

To avoid unintended un-assignment, ensure the unavailable start time begins after the end of the employee’s shift where applicable.
6. Once all details have been entered, select Save to apply the time off.
